So.
My longtime friend, Diane Cleaver, and I have decided to be pickleball partners at our annual tourney in June...the Wine Country Games. We will be playing in the 70-74 category at the 3.5 level. I came up with an idea to help us get energized for our event....a diet contest. I did this once before, back in the 80’s, when I worked at the Treasury. We weighed ourselves weekly, and the winner was one who lost the highest percentage of pounds. It was fun. And of course, I won.
For this contest, I initiated a poetry encouragement saga, via text. At pickleball lunch today, after I read a few excerpts, one of our group suggested I publish our poetry exchange, to date. So here goes!
Me:
We are going to be
Thin, Thin, Thin...
So we can move QUICKLY!
And win, win, win!
Diane:
Rah, rah, rah
Sis boom bah....
You betcha!
Me:
Soon our clothes won’t be
Splitting at the seam
Cuz we are an EXCELLENT
Weight-losing team!
Diane:
Our arms won’t flap,
Our thighs won’t rub,
We’ll be the most agile
In the whole dang club!
Me:
We’ll be on the right path
If we do the math
Calories add up
Especially when we sup!
Doggone it!
Diane:
Ha, ha, ha...
You got that right,
Not giving up the fight -
Calories are bad -
Giving up wine
